The new benchmark for sustainable workspaces.

Bringing together the highest standards in energy efficiency, sustainability and human well-being, CORNERBLOCK is a building like no other.

Located on the Gold Coast, Australia, CORNERBLOCK is the world's first building to pursue the standards of Passive House, Green Star and WELL Building Standard.

Our Story

CORNERBLOCK started with an idea. An idea that evolved as more was learnt about what was possible.

Design a better building.
Make it more efficient.
Minimise its impact on the environment.
Minimise its impact on occupants.
Maximise its longevity.

An additional outcome of the building is its educational value. It is a real world example of what is possible when sustainability, energy efficiency and human well-being are not only taken into account, but made the core focus of the building's design.

The goal of our build was to change the conversation around commercial buildings. We wanted to create a healthier, holistic and highly productive work environment for the people using the space.

— BEN SINCLAIR, CREATOR OF CORNERBLOCK

CORNERBLOCK Exterior

Design a better building.

From the outset, CORNERBLOCK was designed to be sustainable, energy efficient and architecturally appealing - a definitive departure from conventional commercial builds.

Make it more efficient.

Different standards and measures were explored that could give an indication of the building’s performance in achieving these goals.

Passive House became the corner stone of the building’s design - its calculated modelling and scientific approach would ensure the building would be energy efficient and significantly reduce the building's ongoing energy consumption and environmental footprint.

Minimise its impact on the environment.

Green Star assesses the sustainable design, construction and operation of a building. This aligned with our sustainable goal for the build.

CORNERBLOCK Interior

Minimise its impact on occupants.

WELL Building Standard focuses on how the design and construction of a building impacts the health, well-being and comfort of its occupants. By pursuing this standard we would ensure our building provided the ideal work environment for the people it housed.

CORNERBLOCK Walkway

Maximise its longevity.

Long term performance guided the design, material choice and construction methods ensuring a high quality, durable building with minimal maintenance and operation costs.

We have approached this build looking to the future. It's ongoing advantages and benefits will be retained for many years to come.

— JAN SINCLAIR, OWNER OF CORNERBLOCK
